CARR, Robert Louis "Skip" 64, of St. Petersburg, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2008 at St. Anthony's Hospital. He came here in 1948 from his native Detroit, MI. Skip was a graduate of Boca Ciega High School, Class of 1962, and attended St. Petersburg College where he was a basketball player. He was a member of Kiwanis Club of St. Petersburg. He was a board member for PARC as well as the Salvation Army. He served previously on the board of Northside Christian School. Skip was a devoted Christian and faithful member of Starkey Road Baptist Church where he was Head Usher and a member of the long-range planning committee. He started his career in 1965 at Home Federal Savings & Loan where he served in a variety of positions during his 22 years there. In 1991, Skip joined Seminole Bank where he served Sr. Vice-President and Chief Lending Officer. In 1994, he became Executive Vice-President & Chief Operating Officer at Anchor Bank. In 1998, Skip organized Cornerstone Community Bank where he served as President, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer. He was a humble and generous man who was devoted to his faith, family and friends. Skip was an avid golfer and sports fan. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert & Ivy Carr. Skip is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Linda; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin & Michael Carr of St. Petersburg; his daughter and son-in-law, Stacy & Robert Oakley of Durham, NC; his daughter and son-in-law, Melanie & Greg Lewallen of Gainesville, GA; a sister, Sandra Owens of Tampa; his 10 grandchildren, Morgan, Taylor, Carrson, Nathan, Hannah & Ellie Oakley, Corbin & Alden Lewallen, Austin & Avery Carr; and several nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends was held Monday, September 29, 2008 at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home and a memorial service was held Tuesday September 30 at Starkey Road Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to New Life Solutions & Pregnancy Center of Pinellas County, 1910 East Bay Drive, Largo, FL 33771 or the Missionary Fund at Starkey Road Baptist Church.
