Free College Tuition to Deserving Students

The Kiwanis Club of St Petersburg Fisher-Carr Scholarship Fund partnered with the Pinellas Education Foundation in 2005 to raise funds for the Take Stock in Children Scholarship. Since then our club has contributed over $800,000.

The Take Stock in Children Scholarship is for underprivileged students in grades 6 through 11 for free State college tuition upon successful graduation from high school if they maintain a C average, remain drug and alcohol free and stay out of trouble with law enforcement. This scholarship program administers our funds in a way that encourages young students to maintain their grades and good citizenship in exchange for a four year college grant.

Every spring our Fisher-Carr Bash raises funds for this worthy scholarship, an event attended by over 200 people where they enjoy food, music, beverages, silent and live auction held at the Coliseum. At the event we're also privileged to hear the testimonies from the student recipients as to how the Take Stock in Children Scholarship has helped them succeed. In addition, every fall the Fisher-Carr Golf Tournaments takes place at the St Petersburg Country Club.

More information can be found at the Fisher-Carr website.
